Bush Lies About Nuclear Threat -- Again
Kevin Morgan
The National Intelligence Estimate revealed that Iran stopped pursuing its nuclear ambitions in 2003. This is what Europe was trying to tell us in 2005. Big media is doing its best to obfuscate and confuse the issue.
The real issue here is that once again the president of the United States has knowingly misled his own people. After we were lied into war with Iraq, neither the press nor our Congress had the courage to protect us from this abuse of power. Instead, they minimized and politicized the issue. Now it has happened again. In fact, by not making Bush accountable for lying to the nation after Iraq, we have set a precedent that future presidents can feel free to mislead the people with no fear of being held accountable.
The issue of presidential honesty, especially in regard to threats from other nations is a much greater threat to our Democracy and freedom than Iran or Iraq will ever be. If the president is not held accountable now after being caught red handed for the second time, we have greater enemies within.
Reality vs Bush/Big Media
Reality --"This is the second time the president of the United States has knowingly and repeatedly lied to the nation about a nuclear threat."
Bush -- "Now that we know that, we know what a threat they are!"
Big Media -- The report "contradicted assertions by top Bush administration officials." ... followed by ..."The president sternly asserts that he was right about Iran being a threat."
Reality -- "But this is the second time the president of the United States lied knowingly and repeatedly to the American people about a nuclear threat."
Bush -- "They told me they had some new information but they didn't tell me what it was."
Reality -- "But the president of the United States lied knowingly and repeatedly to the American people about a nuclear threat. Isn't anybody going to do anything about it?"
Big Media -- "Take our poll. Do you belive that Bush knew Iran didn't have a nuclear weapons program before or after he made his WW lll speech?" _Left or Right_?
Bush lied to us about Iraq's nuclear capabilities and now more than 3,800 American youth are dead as a result of this. Dead in a war that was unneccessary from the start and built upon false premises. Iran could easily have led to the same mistake, one which we now must turn to our press and Congress to repair. If they do not, they are themselves the enemies of Democracy.
