Second World War:
The modern world is still living with the consequences of World War 2, the most titanic conflict in history. Just over 67 years ago on September 1st 1939, Germany invaded Poland without warning.

You suck as a poet. Yet one of your verses made it crystal clear to me that a trasnsiton is taking place in peoples attitude toward the party in charge. The silence has ended. Whether they realize it or not, because the negative 'tude has already reached the "coffee pot", it's too late for the republicans to reverse the course.

The verse:
"They were innocent in their vocal descent
against the leaders who made them fools.
They don't read the polls and they surely can't know
that the tide's turning elsewhere, too."

-- Eva

I agree with Jules. ... We shouldn't turn against each other ... we should unite against the small group of genocidal maniacs that are destroying our country and the mindless, non-reading, robotic, follow him into any war, maybe I'll get rich someday too, genetic abberations. It's way beyond debate now. If you think it's arguable, then you haven't done your homework.

It's not about Republican or Democrat any more. I wish it was that simple.

While you were watching the football game, (insert the name of your favorite politician) was crafting the plan under which you now live...

Hi -- More, more of such sites.

Thank you for telling it like it is about the crooked rethuglican leaders. I can't believe our country is being run by men under indictment or investigation. The last 5 years have been the darkest days in American history.

My question is will any of them go to jail?

-- Eva

I am a republican and avid supporter of President Bush. This is one of the most opinionated websites I have ever seen. I know this is america and everyone is entitled to their opinion but I think we should all stand behind or president and make this country United instead of divided into Democrat and republican.

Great Website! As Bushs approval rating keeps dropping, I really hope that the people who voted for him AGAIN, have realized what they've done to this country and the future of America. I voted for Kerry, so I take no blame for this mess.

I would hate to be the next president that will have to clean up what the Chimp has done!

-- Amanda

Why aren't you publishing the content of the Downing Street Demo like every other liberal wacko website?

The President lead us to war based on the idea that we would spread democracy and the republicans are making the hard decisions for this country, like getting rid of socialist security.

So go ahead and complain about old memos, because America will follow this president into any war he decides is neccessary.

"Bush didn't learn anything from his own religion. Jesus made sure that the crowd was first given food to eat. Then He offered His direction." - from your blog 2-23-05: perfect! This is why I come back to read your blurbs.

"The belief structures in which we operate, no matter how well-defined or how open-ended, shape our lives. They determine what we gravitate toward and what we keep at a distance. I've come to appreciate what Pi says [Life of Pi, by Yann Martel] when his family and community harass him for his beliefs: "It is on the inside that God must be defined, not on the outside ... The main battlefield for good is not the open ground of the public arena but the small clearing of each heart." - from "A Question of Faith", by Karen Olson in the March issue of Utne

Great website!

Why is President decided before all votes are counted ?
Opinions of the American people are not reflected unless all votes are counted.
Where have provisional votes in Ohio been going ?
U.S.A. should count all the votes.

-- Kazumi Waga

I would like to observe that it was NOT 51% "of our citizens" who re-elected Dubya - merely 51% of those who showed up to vote yesterday.

A lot of positive things occurred this election cycle for the liberal/progressive side of things. Look at the actual head count for the number of folks who voted "our" way. Although we didn't win this battle, we have a good number of folks on our side to continue the culture war with.

Mark, of course your fears are justified in the short term. Every empire has its peak and then the following come-uppence, if you will. Greece, Rome, England, Germany etc. all went thro! ugh their pompous "we rule the world" stage before their eventual decline. This will undoubtedly happen to the USA as well, if we stay on the empirical path that BushCo has us on.

But 51% of yesterday's voters weren't ready to have that "everything we know is wrong" epiphany that will be necessary to change the collective consciousness of the electorate just yet. They will only have themselves to blame when the Instant Karma comes around. Here's to hoping they don't get us ALL killed as part of their misguided crusade and/or countdown to "the rapture".

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Give them enough rope, and they will hang themselves.

Remember the Nixon "mandate" in '72?

Cheers for now -- Darrell

My battery is at an end today, but I wanted to remind all of this:
It will get worse if we turn against each other in America. I can NOT forgive Kerry for giving in so quickly. He needed to calm down the unwashed masses (us) ? I agree with that need too. There's nothing to gain by all this division. Iraq is going bad enough. McCartism is back. It will only get worse if we Americans turn against each other... There are enough people who hate us, we don't need more hate. So I'll cool down, lick my wounds and let go. And you should too.
